Inverter generator rental
Inverter units convert engine output to DC and back to a tightly regulated AC waveform. You rent one for two reasons: noise and power quality.

Best uses

Typical power range
Roughly 2 to 10 kW, and pairs can often be run in parallel. Output is only half the specification here — waveform quality and the decibel figure at your working distance matter just as much.
Why power quality matters
Sensitive electronics — cameras, audio consoles, laptops, some medical devices — care about waveform distortion, not just voltage. Inverter units hold a clean sine wave across changing load, which conventional units do not always manage.
If a manufacturer specifies a maximum total harmonic distortion for the equipment you are running, ask the provider for the unit's rating rather than assuming.
Noise, and how it is measured
Noise ratings are quoted at a fixed distance and a fixed load, usually a quarter load at seven metres. The same unit at full load and three metres away is a very different number.
Venues, campgrounds and residential neighbourhoods often set a decibel limit at the property line. Get the rating in writing before you promise anyone anything.
Where inverter units run out of room
Output tops out well below job-site requirements. Above roughly 10 kW you move to conventional or diesel equipment, sometimes with an acoustic enclosure instead of inverter technology.
Two smaller inverter units can often be paralleled for more output while keeping noise down, which is a common approach for events.
Fuel, runtime and refuelling
Gasoline or propane, with modest tanks. Load-following engine speed means light loads stretch runtime considerably.
For an event, plan refuelling around the programme rather than the tank: a shutdown between sets is very different from one mid-performance.

Delivery, setup, cable and grounding
Ask these before the unit is scheduled. Each one changes either the price or whether the job works at all.

- Two parallel-capable units without the kit are still two separate supplies.
- What cable lengths and connector types come with it?
- Venue distribution rarely matches whatever is on the unit.
- Who is allowed to move the unit during the event?
- Venues often require a qualified person once power is live.
- How is it grounded at this venue?
- Indoor and temporary structure grounding rules vary by jurisdiction and venue.

- The full load list, including anything that cycles such as refrigeration
- Any manufacturer limit on total harmonic distortion
- The venue's noise limit and where it is measured
- Distance from the unit to the load, for cable sizing
- Load-in and load-out times, including quiet hours
