The rate is a rental period, not a total
Rates are quoted daily, weekly or monthly, and the weekly rate is normally far better value than several days. Longer commitments generally reduce the effective daily figure again.
Rental periods often count calendar days rather than hours of use, and many contracts define a standard shift with overtime hours billed separately.
The line items people forget
Delivery and collection, fuel on delivery and return, cable and distribution equipment, transformers, damage waivers, environmental fees and after-hours service calls all appear separately on real invoices.
Cable and distribution in particular can be a significant fraction of the total on a job-site rental.
Fuel policy is the biggest variable
Some providers include scheduled fuel service, some deliver full and bill the refill, some expect you to fuel it yourself. On a continuously running diesel unit this difference dwarfs most other line items.
Ask for the fuel policy in writing along with the rate.
Why we do not publish prices
Rates vary by region, season, fleet availability, duration and what is bundled. Publishing a national figure would be a guess presented as a fact, and it would be wrong for most readers.
Comparable written quotes from providers who cover your area are the only accurate answer.
